RELEASE DAY REVIEW by Lorna: Make Me Sin (Bad Habit #2) by J.T.Geissinger (@JTGeissinger , @Mollykatie112)

Make Me SinChloe Carmichael’s life feels pretty sweet—she’s both maid of honor and florist for her best friend’s A-list wedding, things are getting serious with her boyfriend, and her flower shop is about to get a spread in a national magazine. But it all quickly turns sour whenever the best man, Bad Habit drummer A.J. Edwards, shows his face…his handsome, unforgettable face. A.J. is everything Chloe doesn’t want: tattooed, selfish, and all-around bad news. So why can’t she stop thinking about him?

Goody two-shoes Chloe isn’t exactly A.J.’s type, either, but the chemistry between them is undeniable. A.J. will be the first to say he isn’t a saint, but there’s something he’s not saying—something that would devastate Chloe. The only way he can protect her is to push her away, but the drummer finds he needs her now more than ever. When a wedding-day confrontation reveals secrets they’re both hiding, will Chloe and A.J. ever find their rhythm again?

Second in this series about ultra famous rock band, Bad Habit, this book ended up being my favorite of the two, not that the first book, Sweet as Sin, wasn’t good. Because it really was a wonderful read and actually a mystery/thriller as well. Make Me Sin, while not a mystery exactly, still has a mystery aspect to it. I was given a copy of this book by Net Galley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Chloe is a florist and best friends with Kat, who is now engaged to Nico, lead singer for the band. It’s wedding planning time for Kat and a lot of that involves Chloe as the florist for the wedding as well as a bridesmaid. Best man is A.J., the drummer for the band. Everytime they come anywhere close to each other, A.J. goes out of his way to insult Chloe, to the point that she is really hurt. So the mystery becomes, what’s up with A.J. acting that way around Chloe? What secrets is he hiding? Why does he always appear in pictures with his face averted from the camera or in shadows on the cover of their records? Chloe wants to know the answers, and A.J. has no intention of ever telling her anything.

I ended up loving A.J. and I didn’t think I would. He may be a mega rock star, but he keeps to himself and is completely off the grid-which ends up being helpful in this story. He has a horrible history, one that will pull at every heartstring you have. And he does have his reasons for keeping away from Chloe. Nevermind that he fell in love with her at first sight. She doesn’t know that, and he wants her to stay away from him. Insulting her is his answer to that. Chloe, for her part, I really liked from the first book. She was raised by wealthy parents and has had the best of everything. Now she is making her own way as a florist much to her parents chagrin. I really liked her brother Jamie. He is gay and although open, his parents resist admitting it. Of course Kat, and her other best friend, Grace, have big parts to play in this story as well. All of them form a well rounded cast of characters. I am looking forward to reading Grace’s story next and the teaser given in this book really ups the suspense for that read.

Feels. This book has them in spades. If you are a cryer when you read, get out your tissues now. Since this is a romance, of course there is the usual romantic feels, but Geissinger takes it several steps forward and goes to OMG territory. My feelings were all over the place during this book. Yes, it ended up being a wonderful romance. But it also has such a deeper story, a sad story, that it will make even the hardhearted tear up. More importantly to me, I couldn’t put the book down. I gave up television, being online, pretty much everything, to devour this read. It was just so very well plotted and written. It pulled me into the read and didn’t let go until the very end. Guacamole will never look the same to you after this, just saying!

Keep in mind that it is an adult read due to the sex scenes. I wholeheartedly recommend this read to contemporary romance fans. Fantastic read, as is anything by this author!

  1. I really have to start this series, Lorna. I already have Sweet as Sin – in paperback – but haven’t gotten there yet. I’ll have to remember the tissue warning for this one. 😉 I can’t wait to meet Chloe. I really like the sound of a girl who’d make her own way in the world despite coming from a wealthy family. A.J. seems like he’s going to be a little harder to love but I’ll trust you on that one. 😉 Awesome review!

    1. I think you would like it Brandee. But this one just really was the best! I could not put it down! Yep definitely have the tissues with you 🙂 And thanks!
