REVIEW by Damien: Plague of Angels by John Patrick Kennedy (@JohnPatKennedy , @DarkeRealmEnt)

Nyx is Queen of Hell and ruler of the Angels who were banished there – the Descended.

And when the rest of the Angels are called home, Nyx finds herself stuck on the Earth with the Son of God. To her surprise, she learns that he is no happier than she. God’s son thought he was sent down to judge humanity. Instead, he becomes a sacrifice for a cause he does not believe in – their redemption.

After his mortal body dies, the Son of God makes Nyx an offer: a new paradise on Earth if she will help him destroy humanity.

With two of her fellow Angels by her side, Nyx launches a thousand-year campaign of violence, sex, betrayal and intrigue to bring down God’s people and have them worship her instead. From the back streets of Jerusalem to the palaces of Rome, from the temples of Egypt to the Pope’s bedchamber, Nyx and her companions work to destroy the worshippers of God.

But not all is as it seems. And the Son of God has bigger plans than any of them imagine…

What I liked about this book:
I love finding a book (or series of books) that continue to leave you wanting more from page to page… chapter to chapter and then at the end of the book you’re sitting there with it in your hands and you’re thinking to yourself… What the Hell? NO! it did not just end like that… ok where’s the next book I need to know what happens Next …

Plague of Angels offers you all of that. When Nyx, the Queen of Hell invites you into her world… her past… the wars she’s been through… her Love and Hate of God… her life in Hell and then her life on Earth… those first few chapters is like taking a newfound walk through parts of the Old & New Testaments through the eyes of an Angel who knew the joys and loves of heaven but because she questioned God she found herself in a war that she couldn’t win and then cast down into Hell and eventually into yet another war that her anger would not allow her to lose… and finally back on Earth and into the Plight of the Christ.

We see a totally different side of EVERYTHING and yet nothing leaves you hanging. We learn things about the lives and sensuality of Angels we never dreamed. But, the main thing that we are faced with is the desires of an Angel to do what she must to prepare the world for the return of her Love…

Plague of Angels is a page turner… there’s a lot of action… there’s a lot of History… there’s a lot of sexual content(without being porn)… it was a good blend of what you think you know and fiction that leaves you pouring through the pages wondering what will take place next. I am so looking forward to seeing if Mr. Kennedy can keep pace in Book 2.

What I didn’t like about this book:
I cannot think of anything I can say that I disliked about this book other than the fact that now I need to find book two because the of the cliffhanger of an ending… I have this need to find out how things are going to proceed now that Nyx has gotten herself into a predicament that seems impossible to get herself out of. The way it ended leaves you sitting right at the edge of the Lake of Fire looking in trying to see into it’s depths but then looking up to see that crack that goes from Hell back into the realm of Earth wondering what’s in store for we Humans who do not really know what’s going on. Damn, I thought I could spin a Cliffhanger… I applaud Mr. Kennedy for doing an outstanding ending for this first book.

Who I would recommend this book to:
This book is one of those books where as a reader you have to be willing to look beyond the looking glass and see the world beyond. There’s a lot of Magical references… there’s a lot of Historical references… there’s a lot of sexual references… there’s a lot of Biblical references… and all of it meshes together for something that will have you sitting back and looking at the world around you and wondering …

What If?!?!?!?!

Go into it ready for a very well paced story that will keep you turning pages just to see what’s bound to happen next…

Can any of this be – real?
