INDIE AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT: Brian Rowe (@mrbrianrowe)

Brian Rowe

Where are you from?

I grew up in Roseville, California, and currently live in Reno, Nevada.

How long have you been writing?

I have been writing fiction ever since the third grade, but I’ve been seriously writing longform fiction since early 2010. In two and a half years I have written eight novels and have many more in the planning stages.

What’s your genre of choice for writing?

Two of my first three novels were adult novels, but in the last two years I’ve focused entirely on YA fiction. I love writing about teenagers, and all the plots I come up with tend to skew toward the teenaged audience..

What’s your genre of choice for reading?

Since March I’ve been reading primarily young adult fiction, because I feel like the more of it I read, the better my YA books will turn out. Recently I’ve become obsessed with John Green’s work, and I have a soft spot for gay YA fiction. I also love short fiction, general literature, and non-fiction memoirs.

Tell us all about you and your writing!!

I have self-published seven novels on Amazon, and my YA Happy Birthday to Me trilogy has received over one hundred 4 and 5 star reviews! I’m currently at work on a new YA series called Grisly High, and I’m also in the rewrite phase on a brand new YA title that includes gay love, the rapture, and dinosaurs.

Any new releases that we should be watching for?

My newest title is The Zombie Playground (Grisly High, No. 2) which was released to Amazon in July. The book is a super fun read, especially if you like zombie fiction. I’m currently pitching my newest novel (currently untitled) to literary agents. Wish me luck!
