All day yesterday, I sat and watched the stats part of my admin dashboard for Pure Textuality. Well, that’s not ALL I did but I kept a watchful eye on it throughout the day. When I got in to work at 9:30am, Pure Textuality was already approaching 200 hits for the day – a check point that normally does not occur until the early afternoon. I watched it all day seeing it steadily climb. By the time I went to bed at 11pm, the last number I saw was 598. Well, at the stroke of midnight, we had hit 620 hits – a number that made this chick smile big.
To some people, 620 hits is nothing. That’s a flash in the pan. However, most people with a 9 month old blog have to pay for lots of advertising to hit that kind of mark in a day. I am proud to say that so far, Pure Textuality has paid for $0.00 in advertising. Nothing. Zip. Zero. Nada. The growing success of this site has been achieved purely through word of mouth and with the help of a team of fantastic reviewers!
The Review Team – The team here at Pure Textuality has been a gift from the bookish gods. When I originally put the word out that I was looking for reviewers, I had a very pessimistic view point on what was going to happen. I figured if (and that’s a big IF) I got any responses, I didn’t think that it would turn into anything huge. At that point, I was a one-man operation and I was incredibly LUCKY if I had 70 hits per day…and that was a BUSY day. So, I stated right from the get-go that I never want Pure Textuality to become a burden to anyone. I want it to remain fun and never feel like work. So, when I started to get responses, I only asked the new reviewers that they be able to supply 2 reviews per MONTH. Well, THAT did NOT happen. What DID happen was I managed to get myself a review team that sends me upwards of 11 reviews per week total! PER WEEK! On a daily basis, I am bl0wn away by how frikkin awesome this team is!
Dolly, Heather, Justin, Curt, Beth, Ginny, Amber and Laurie – YOU ARE AMAZING!! Pure Textuality could not possibly have come this far this fast without your continued help and excellent reviews. I am ever thankful and hope that you like it enough to stick around for a long, long time!!!
Want to know how awesome this team is??? Since January 1st – that’s only 39 days – Pure Textuality has had 55 book reviews, 1 fanfiction review, 3 author interviews and many random posts. That’s a lot of hard work and an insane amount of reading!
That’s not all!! A little history – Pure Textuality was established on May 2, 2011. From May 2nd to December 31st, we had a grand total of 8,365 hits. Not too shabby for a newborn blog with 1 person running the whole show. Not impressed? How about this? From January 1st until today (again, only 39 days) we have had 10,510 hits!! Now, that’s impressive! I owe so much of that success here at Pure Textuality to the fantastic team we have here. We have also had the help of a wonderful indie author by the name of Kendra Saunders with her coverage of the Arisia 2012 convention and she’ll be covering Book Expo America as well! I could not be more excited right now!!
Another thing that has helped is all of our fantastic followers!!! With the Kindle Fire giveaway still going, our number of subscribers is growing steadily (109 right now). With those subscribers, come more Twitter followers (802 right now) and more Facebook “likes” (70 right now). I continue to publish my posts so that they tie into the Twitter feeds with @Mentions and this has brought us a lot of new readers. A great big thank you goes out to all of those reader for all of your continued support!!!
With 326 more days left in the year, I am internally freaking out and growing impatient to see how far we get by December 31st. The last few weeks have been a complete and utter whirlwind. We have so many big things coming up soon – including an Anne Rice interview (posting Feb 14th), LOTS of pre-release reviews, book store features, more and more author guest posts….the list goes on and on!! I would be thoroughly overwhelmed if I didn’t have such a great team working with me! *smiles with pride*
So that’s where we stand right now. My team rocks. Period. End of story.
Also, I am always looking for more reviewers to add to the team (click here if interested) and more guest posts from authors (shoot me an e-mail if interested) so please DONT BE SHY!! 🙂
Cant wait to see where the rest of the 2012 brings us!!!
