Where are you from?
Bakersfield, California…the town who’s claim to fame is being featured the wall of a porta-potty outhouse that washes ashore in “Cast Away”…lovely.
How long have you been writing?
Since the fifth grade after I read T.J.’s Ghost by Shirley Climo. I’m pretty sure that a good majority of my stories were about a girl and a ghost following her around while she solved some petty crime. Think Nancy Drew meets Unsolved Mysteries with a redheaded heroine. Always a redhead. ;)
What’s your genre of choice for writing?
I choose to write paranormal fiction flavored with some romance. Lately, however, I have been writing YA, and it’s been a great experience. I like to write what I enjoy reading, a definite plus come editing time.
What’s your genre of choice for reading?
I read everything, though my genre of choice tends to be paranormal fiction, urban fiction, fantasy, YA, etc. I do like the classics, though, and can often be found rereading my beat-up copy of The Scarlet Letter for the eight thousand three hundred and sixty forth time. Oh, and a good mystery…I love a good mystery…SEE, I read everything!
Tell us all about you and your writing!!
Holy open-ended question, Batman! I’m a crazy redhead who uses that as an excuse for absolutely everything I do in life. My approach to writing is to keep things as simple as possible. Characters are critical for me so I focus heavily on developing each one so that the reader can easily follow the path the character treads . I also like to paint a clear picture so that the reader is getting a look at the world inside my head, a scary concept to be sure. Once these two things are accomplished, a the reader has to find themselves engaged in a wild ride of OMG, WTF, and Holy Sh%#!! That is my recipe for writing success.
Any new releases that we should be watching for?
A YA novel, Tempted by Evil, that I co-wrote with CAGED author Amber Lynn Natusch coming this fall!
