Tell us all about you and your writing!!
I am a medical anthropologist working in public health in Colorado. I love writing as a tension relief. It’s also a lot of fun to make up stories. I love mythology, from everywhere. It has a huge power that seems almost primal, and beyond time and place. So I think archetypes just kind of seep into my stories a lot. I wrote a novel recently called Pazuzu’s Girl that was published on Feb 10, 2012, by Journalstone Publishing. It features mostly Mesopotamian gods. I’m fascinated by them partly because I’m Jewish, and we historically originated from that region. I like investigating adversarial characters like demons because they’ve gone through such a transformation throughout different histories. They’re complicated, and never what they appear. I guess you could call it sympathy for the story behind the devil. Initially, Pazuzu’s Girl started in my brain as a joke. I am a mother of a wonderful precocious 6 year old, and I was imagining forward into the future when she will be a teenager. I don’t know why, but it was amusing to imagine what a demon would do when confronted by his teenage daughter.
